20 Story Plot Twist Idea Inspired from New Concept of English Book 2, Part 1

Hello everyone, we meet again here with another plot twist idea to support your story. Some of you guys probably think that I use AI to develop my original story. So, at least here, I want to prove to myself that I'm gonna use some story from a New Concept of English Book 2, then develop it to become my own story. If you guys have time and want to check it by yourself, you will find out that AI can't generate as many complicated story twists as the story that you guys are about to read below. I admit it, I've tried it. AI will always repeat the story that already exists in its database and can't create a new one.

I will mention the original story names so you guys can check them for yourself. Check out the book and see how I twist a story on my own. So here's 20-story plot twist idea inspired by the New Concept of English Book 2.

1. A man feels so excited about his savings that he gathered from his first job salary. He decided to use it for his first vacation abroad to Japan. The man has loved Japan for a long time because of anime and his best friends, who are fluent in Japanese. The man tried to practice a few simple conversations with his friends because he wanted to go to Japan alone. The man refused to be accompanied by anyone because it was his childhood dream to do solo adventures. The man feels so enthusiastic that he can't fall asleep since the day before his departure, and also during the 11-hour plane ride. Arriving in Japan, the man realized that, strangely, he couldn't speak any Japanese words at all.

2. Arrived at the hotel at night, instead of feeling insomnia due to jet lag, the man immediately fell asleep. The man woke up due to the numerous phone calls from his friends and immediately called him back. The man explained that he can't speak any Japanese to his friends. Probably it's some sort of weird panic attack or excessive enthusiasm that affects part of his brain that runs linguistically. The man felt so weird because he didn't feel any pain in his body; he was still fit, excited, and happy for his trip. The man also realized that he felt so hungry and asked his friends to accompany him on the phone call to order breakfast. This made the friends surprised because in Japan it is supposed to be 7 PM, which means the man didn't realize that he had been sleeping for more than 18 hours.

3. After this incident, the man decided to go back home and cancel his whole 2-week Japanese solo trip plan. The man checked his mental condition, and the psychiatrist explained that the man was probably experiencing a sort of genetic stuttering due to the explosion of psychological emotion. Not feeling trauma or any pain, the man decided to come to Japan again for the second time, but later he wanted to be accompanied by his friends.

This 3-plot twist was inspired by 3 short stories from the New Concept of English Book 2. The twist about the man who had been sleeping for a long time until he didn't know what time he was supposed to wake up, is from 'Breakfast or Lunch'. The twist about learning language but then can't say a word, is from 'Please Send Me A Card'. And the twist about the man who is excited about his first trip, is from 'An Exciting Trip'.

4. Right after my dad opened a store branch outside the city, he received so many terror messages from an unknown number. Various terrors such as death threats, stealing in the stores, house robbery, child abduction, etc. Dad realized that it probably came from the other business owner who feels outcompeted. At first, Dad feels afraid, but as time goes by, he knows that all of those threats are just a bunch of bullshits. Sometimes, Dad responds to that message just to have fun and confuse the scammer. When Dad got house robbery threats, Dad would reply, 'The address and the name of the owner are correct, but you texted the wrong number.' Or when a threat is saying I was kidnapped, my dad will respond 'Too late, boy, my son has arrived at home. Which I was his only daughter.''

5. One day, those threats really happened when that one store outside the city caught on fire. The police and firefighters' investigation found there's a culprit who started the fire. Dad refuses to investigate more and requests to be reported as an electrical short. A couple of days later, a random number calls my dad, warning him that the callers know who caused the fire. This call made my dad pretty shocked because he already thought that usually terrors only come from SMS. But turns out the callers speak to my dad politely and warned him to be careful. There's a businessman outside the city who dares to do anything to remove their competitors.

6. Dad had invited the man on that call to meet up, but he refused and said he was not too comfortable in a public area. Dad persuaded him again that he can come to his house or talk somewhere private, but the caller said that the phone call is enough. Dad also asks about which city is safe to expand my dad's business. The callers give a couple of city names, then close the calls. Since then, Dad tried to call back the number but never got an answer. Dad opened so many branch stores in the city that the man mentioned, and it was all right. Years passed, dad's business was doing well, and no significant obstacles from competitors. Dad feels he owes the mysterious man so much for helping him develop the business this big.

Plot twist about opening a store branch outside the city inspired by 'No Wrong Numbers'. Plot twist about saying it's too late to terror message is from 'Too Late'. And the twist about private conversation comes from 'A Private Conversation'.

7. One day, a married couple canceled their plan to watch a play show, and they decided to refund the ticket even though it was half price. When the man arrived in front of the theatre building, he saw an old couple who wanted to cross the road, and he decided to help them. Having a little chat, he knew that the couple wanted to watch the play but were late and ran out of tickets. Realize this chance like a destiny, the man offered the two tickets that he was about to refund. The man put the price above the refund price but still below the normal price, and the couple accepted the offer. The transaction really happened in the middle of the road and made the man a bit panicked because some cars were honking at them. ''

8. In the house, the man told everything that happened to his wife. They realize that they could get more profit if they put the price above normal. Since this incident, the couple started their small ticket scalper business. Their family is comfortable, but they thought nothing wrong about increasing their income. Whenever there's a big event, they will buy two tickets with their ID, which they gonna sold at a higher price. They initially took a small profit, increasing over time until they sold all their scalped ticket at twice the price. Though seems people won't buy it, it always sells when it's getting close to the D-day. With that small effort, they can get a high profit that is enough to feed them for the next 2 months.

9. Not long after that, the couple's greed caused them to secretly get the ID picture of their siblings. 2 Siblings from the man and 1 more sibling from the woman. So now they gain more profit by selling 5 scalped overpriced tickets. A couple of times they've done it, there was a time a very famous band held a huge concert in their city. It made the police investigate and catch a big-ticket scalping syndicate that sold hundreds of tickets. This incident also made the police investigate the small ticket scalpers, including the couple. The man got a call from the police, confirming the purchase of 5 tickets for the person ID was used to buy the tickets.

10. Luckily, the man was fast enough to inform their siblings to explain the condition. Although they got confused and went mad, they still wanted to cooperate, helping the man and the wife fake their purchase to the police. After that, the case of the couple with the police was cleared, but now they had to deal with the big family about this fraud. Everything's resolved peacefully where the agreement is; the couple must stop scalping tickets, delete the picture of their siblings' ID, and they must give half of the estimated money that they made while scalping tickets to their siblings. Since then, the couple decided to stop doing ticket scalping and promised to become a better family. A couple of months later, the couple watched the small play again just to see the elder couple that the man had met at the beginning of the story. As a reminder and a wish, so that they become a better person, and they will be together till the end of their life.

The story plot twist above was also inspired by the short story from the New Concept of English Book 2. The plot twist of the elderly couple who run out of tickets is from 'Sold Out'. The plot twist about a huge event of a band that involves police is from 'The Greenwood Boys'. The plot twist about couples who silently use their siblings' ID and then owe them money is from the short story 'One Good Turn Deserves Another.

11. A man decides to move his house and his business to a new town for various reasons. The man is a clockmaker with decades of experience, but modernization is putting his business on the edge of bankruptcy. Nowadays, people in his old town prefer using an automatic digital clock that follows the regulation of UTC. Meanwhile, in this new town, the governor is a former clockmaker who made a regulation to empower clockmakers in his town.

12. In this new town, there's a tradition where the people of the city do not celebrate New Year's in the city park or watch fireworks in a public place. They would rather hold a barbecue party, have an intimate dinner with their family only, or set up small fireworks in their house. The governor uses this tradition to make a regulation and a unique competition. The competition is to explode fireworks exactly at 00:00. All houses that participate must buy fireworks that've been produced by the government. The fireworks only explode once, and no other fireworks are allowed from 11:50 until 00:10. If someone violates the law, they will be given a warning and even a fine.

13. When the event started, dozens of drones that record all over the sky of the town will be flown. The camera had an advanced time system that is detailed to seconds, milliseconds, and even microseconds. The day after it, the house that recorded the fireworks that exploded the fireworks closest at 00:00 will be rewarded. Many people thought that to win the competition, they just needed to adjust their clocks to UTC, but actually, the time used in the drone is regulated by the government and different from UTC hours.

14. All people are free to use any kind of clock, whether it's a digital clock or an analog clock. But all the clockmakers in that town have been sent a clock, and the time is regulated with the government clock. The UTC clock that differed from the government clock made the people come to the clockmaker to set up their clock to go the same as the government clock. This made the clockmaker's job still important in that town. Even though at the beginning, people found it difficult and annoying. After realizing the huge prize, almost all houses now participate in the event.

15. Since the man has already moved to the city, his business is more stable and getting better. Now, years have passed, and the old governor has also changed, but the fireworks tradition is still going on every New Year's. This new tradition makes the town have its own uniqueness, unlike other cities. Beside ot the fireworks, the town is also known for its clockmaker. Many tourist come to the city just to make their own custom clock. Nowadays, the town is called 'The City of Time.'

The main story above about New Year's is inspired by the short story 'A Cold Welcome'. The plot twist about the fireworks competition to explode at 00:00 is from both stories 'The Best and The Worst', and 'Goodbye and Goodluck.'' The plot twist about people who wrong tought the UTC hours are not the same as the government hours is inspired by 'Not For Jazz'. And the plot twist about people of the city who feel annoyed at first, then turn to participate in the event, is from the short story 'Mad or not'.

16. Before our tour started, the tour guide told us not to give anything to beggars. Surprise me a little, because the area where we visited was not a slum area, and the people are famous for their hospitality to tourists. However, as a foreigner, I could only agree because I know one of the rules of traveling: local knows best. And sure enough, right at our first destination, a beggar came and spoke to me.

17. He spoke in English, saying 'food' multiple times. I responded to him with an ignore gesture, shaking my head left-right slowly. Not giving up, the beggar suddenly changes the language that he speaks multiple times. I'm not sure how many languages he speaks, but I'm sure he's talking French, Spanish, Japanese, and Russian. Then he asks 'Where are you from?' repeatedly. Even though I had a Russian or European look, I was born and grew up in a Middle Eastern country.

18. I'm still ignoring him at the same time, and he keeps changing his language. Until he speaks Arabic, which means 'do you speak Arabic?' and makes me a bit shocked. He realized my expression had changed, and he then continued speaking in Arabic, saying 'Please give me food, sir! I'm so hungry, and I haven't eaten since yesterday.' For some reason, my enthusiasm responded to him 'How'd you know Arabic, sir?' The man then explained that he was a traveler who suffered a misfortune and lost all of his valuables. The man only needs enough money to buy food.

19. Because I feel compassion and connection through the same language, I give him money enough for him to buy a dish. He snatched the money in my hand really fast and suddenly went away without saying thank you. Right in that moment, I remembered the warning that my tour guide had given before, 'Don't give anything to beggars.' The tour guide was only watching me in the distance when I gave those beggars money without interrupting at all.

20. The tour guide explained to me later. That man is the only beggar in that town, and always doing that multilingual money begging in different tourist destinations every day. That beggar is a lazy poligot who didn't want to work his talent except as a beggar. It's easy money since gaining the sympathy of tourist by using their native language. The tour guide dares not to interrupt because the beggars will make loud noise and chaos, which will disturb the others.

The plot twist about a beggar who wanders around asking for food is from the short story 'Percy Buttons'. The Plot twist about the man unexpectedly speaking the native language from 'Do You Speak English'. The plot twist about the tour guide made a request politely, but then doing it in a harsh way is from 'A Polite Request.'

That's at least some proof that I'm not using AI in my short story. Also, that's how a story inspires me to twist and create my own plot in my previous short story. I'm gonna do it again another time, hope you guys like it. Hope it could help with ur creativity and art block. Have a nice one everything...
