Comedy Magic Prophecy - Short Story About Life Lessons
I once entered a national stand-up comedy competition but mixed the comedy with the magic performance. All of my performance is simple, I revealed all of my tricks as comedy, except the last one at the end of my performance. I said, "If you guys want to know what the tricks behind these magic tricks, the judge must qualify me for the next round next week."
My performance in the beginning was favored until people got bored, and I got eliminated in the sixth round. Because I forget and am quite idealistic about magic tricks that cannot be performed twice, I never fulfill my unrevealed magic promise. So, in total, since my first performance in the competition, there have been six unrevealed magic tricks.
Some fans contacted me and said that I should perform again and reveal the tricks of my magic. But since I'm still broke and have no big money to make a show, I ignored them and just moved on with my life. Until one day, out of nowhere, a famous fortune teller called me.
The fortune teller said that I must do one more performance because I carry a bad karma of things that I said. She explained that the promise that I made on stage about revealing my last magic trick must be fulfilled because it's become sort of fans' wishing energy. If I don't do it, some unfortunate thing will happen to me.
I consider her prophecy to be a sign that I will get invited back to perform in call callback round. Call back round is a round where a fallen contestant who still considered good, will be given a second chance to get back into the competition.
So I wrote again the comedy about my 6 unrevealed magic performances if only I got invited back. I have no intention to return to the competition, but at least I fulfilled the promise that I've made to my fans.
But apparently, in the big 6 show, when the callback round was already done, I was not the one who got invited. Even though in my heart I somehow wish that I could perform once more about my unfinished promise. This makes me believe that the prophecy of that fortune teller is wrong and not too bothered. After all, I'm a science person who does not believe much in supernatural things.
Until on final round, suddenly I got invited again to roast the 2 finalists. The one that makes me shocked, somehow all of my 6 unrevealed magic tricks have connection to both finalist. Each finalist got 3 magic tricks equally and it suits with their persona of comedy.
Sure enough, my performance is liked by all of the audience also fulfilled my promise to my fans. All 6 of unrevealed magic is now all revealed in a verry good performance. Right after that, I got so many job calls to do a comedy-magic performance.
Even the finalists and other contestants admit that I got more jobs than them. It's probably because people are more entertained not just by the comedy, but also by the magic tricks.
I'm not forgetting about the fortune teller who helped me. I thanked her, and now she's become my spiritual advisor. I believe that my destiny to perform back in the competition has been destined, but she's the one who helped me to realize it earlier. Now I'm still a person who believes in science, but I don't ignore the existence of something unexplained.
